McChesney Architects was founded in 2001 by Ian McChesney formerly of John McAslan + Partners. The practice is engaged in a broad variety of work ranging from residential commissions to higher profile projects won through competition. In 2002 the firm won the commission for a series of rotating wind shelters on Blackpool’s South Shore promenade. Last year saw the completion of the practice’s first significant building Avenham Park Pavilion in Preston. Both projects have been honoured with Civic Trust Awards. Amongst others is a public realm for the A66 dual carriageway in Middlesbrough, a new family house in South London and an installation in the atrium of a new office building by developer Derwent London. The practice was part of the Architects' Journal 40 under 40, and a finalist in the BD Young Architect of the Year Award 2008.
